          Goose Lake  by Paul Smith

About the song:
There is no place called Goose Lake that I frequent.  However, it is a fitting
symbol of many places that I enjoy going because of their peaceful
surroundings.  I love the outdoors, and I love to fish on some of our lakes,
rivers, and reservoirs.  Some of my fondest memories are of trips to places
where I've enjoyed nature along with good friends.  There is something about
those rare times when all those deep seated feelings come welling up from
somewhere inside.  The best way I can describe it is that it's the feeling of
"it's just good to be alive."

Well the sun is slowly setting upon still waters of Goose Lake.
Bm               F#m     Em                                A7sus4 A7
Fiery hues of red and gold settle in with artistic grace.
    D              c#      Bm                   G                 D
A lone goose gently gliding by, only silence in his wake.
       G                       D                             A7                        D
and then that sound a familiar call and he...he quickens up the pace.

With the evening comes those gentle sounds, and they soon will fill the air.

Their chorus melts away the day the night we begin to share.

And that peaceful easy feeling replaces my every care.

 Chorus:
                G                   D                                     G                     A
Well itís moments like these that bring up those feelings from in side.
               G                         D                   Em                A7sus4 A7
Those feelings that run   deep, all those feelings I canít hide.
               G                            A             D        c#     Bm        A
When my mind fills up with wonder, coming in just like the tide.
       G                  D                      A7                       D
Itís moments like these when itís just good to be alive

Well I just plain love to be here upon the banks of Goose Lake.
To get away from the all those pressures, that grind that I canít take
Itís always worth the effort, itís worth the time that I make.
Itís one of the things that I love to do, and I do it for my own sake.

So the night is well along now as I lie here by the fire.
The soothing sound that filled the air is fading as I tire.
So I return to the gentle feelings of Goose Lake that I so admire.
All the peaceful easy memories are like riches that Iíve acquired.

 Chorus:
Yah itís moments like these that bring up those feelings from in side.
Those feelings that run deep, all those feelings that I canít hide.
When my mind fills up with wonder, coming in just like the tide.
Itís moments like these when itís just good to be alive

Interlude:  (repeat first verse)

Well the dawn is slowly rising now over shadows of Goose Lake.
The birds are all busy sing their songs, as I begin to wake.
Iím gonna, grab my rod and take in hopes that I might make.
Some more of those precious memories, up here on Goose Lake.

  Chorus:
Because itís moments like these that bring up those feelings from in side.
Those feelings that run deep, all those feelings that I canít hide.
When my mind fills up with wonder, coming in just like the tide.
Itís moments like these when itís just good to be alive

Yah itís moments like these when itís just good ....to be alive
